Mount Engadine Lodge

This lodge (located about two hours from Calgary) is a popular year-round spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Its tent-like cabins come with a king bed, ensuite bathroom and a private balcony with mountain views. Spend your time in the area cross-country skiing, ice fishing or lounging by the fire in the main lodge.

The Vintage Trailer Resort

The restored trailers at this resort, located about an hour from Portland, date back to the 1940s. There are 35 trailers total in 23 unique styles, including a 1958 Oasis that is perfect for a couple’s retreat, and the 1956 Spartan Royal Mansion, which is spacious enough for the whole family. Bonus: the Willamette Valley’s many wineries are a quick drive away.

Ridgeback Lodge

Kingston, New Brunswick

Drive about an hour and half from Moncton (southwest) or Fredericton (southeast) to explore the historic Kingston Peninsula and stay in one of Ridgeback Lodge’s Dream Domes. These cylindrical domes are surrounded by trees and come with a king or queen bed, a kitchenette, fireplace and access to a private wood-fired hot tub.

This chic boutique hotel is nestled in the quaint Catskills region of upstate New York. A stay in one of the hotel’s 220-square-foot, triangular Lushna cabins allows for the pleasures of camping but with a queen bed, luxe linens and a private bathroom. Guests can take a shuttle to nearby Windham Mountain Resort for skiing, snowshoeing and tubing.
