For dinner, the kitchen team is happy to accommodate dietary restrictions. Working with Miguel Bautista, one of Mexico’s top vegan chefs, the resort has created new menus for vegan guests.
Great if you need a digital detox
If you can’t quite commit to unplugging, there are plenty of resorts and retreats that will make your digital detox easier. There are no phones or Internet at Sayulita’s Haramara Retreat, and cell service is limited. For those considering cheating on their digital diet, you can’t charge your phone, as the facility’s cabanas don’t offer electricity. Soothe your withdrawal by hiking through the surrounding jungle, swimming in the pool, lazing on the beach and relaxing in the spa. —S.S.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Hugging Las Glorias beach, and just a short walk from the vibrant Malecón oceanside boardwalk, this resort offers a front-row seat to all the action in Puerto Vallarta, a beach town on Mexico’s Pacific coast. The property faces the ocean, giving many of its 473 rooms views of the Bay of Banderas and Sierra Madre Mountains. The property is filled with locally handcrafted art and furniture to mimic the culture-rich cobblestone streets nearby. After a long day exploring the city, stop at the resort’s spa to relax in the steam room and therapeutic pools. Afterwards, refuel at the newly imagined Embarcadero Gastro Bar—the nautical tavern is set up to mimic a ship’s deck—and try some mezcal, raicilla or one of the more than 80 tequila labels that you can pair with a plate of goat cheese churros or duck tacos. —J.F.
