Beautiful scenery, gorgeous sunsets, an exhilarating sense of seclusion—romance and island escapes go hand in hand.

Here are four to consider.

St. George’s, Bermuda

Take a stroll together back in time in St. George’s. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to untouched 17th century British lanes, colourful houses and colonial forts. Check out the Gothic ruins of the Unfinished Church, a popular wedding venue, and the monuments in Somers Garden dedicated to the Brit who founded Bermuda in 1609 (Sir George Somers loved the island so much, his heart was buried in the garden). Linger under one of the island’s limestone moon gates, like the one at the gardens of the Bermuda Perfumery (it’s said a kiss under the gateway will bring happiness and luck).

Galiano Island, British Columbia

Ancient forests and dramatic rocks make this spot on Canada’s west coast a haven for hikers, bikers, kayakers and nature-lovers. About a 55-minute ferry ride from Vancouver, Galiano Island is home to a number of lovely inns and campgrounds, and it remains wild at heart due to its rocky landscape. Hike together to the top of Mount Galiano, the island’s highest point, and take in the gorgeous view of the southern Gulf Islands. Kayak hidden coves in Dionisio Point Provincial Park, look for eagles as you hike, or bike, along Active Pass and explore the unique, white-shell beaches of Montague Harbour Marine Provincial Park

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Scuba diving is a pillar of the Cayman Islands’ economy, with Grand Cayman being a premier destination for the sport. Learning to dive can be a truly romantic experience, bringing you and your loved one closer as you discover a new world together under the sea. The warm Caribbean waters house well-protected reefs, so there’s lots of colourful coral and other wildlife to see, including sea turtles, spotted eagle rays, rainbow parrotfish, huge grouper and more. Imagine the lively, diving-related conversations you’ll enjoy over candlelit dinners at the end of each day.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

With its tropical beaches and laid-back vibe, Montego Bay is a popular spot for  weddings and honeymoons, but it’s also perfect for long-time couples looking to rekindle that spark. The area’s many luxurious, all-inclusive resorts aim to fill their guests’ days with beachside fun, and their nights with memorable entertainment. At places like Iberostar Rose Hall, you can enjoy a quiet dinner then walk hand-in-hand to the on-site theatre, where chances are you’ll be singing along to “One Love” as a Bob Marley cover band plays

into the wee hours.
