A five-storey, 600,000 cubic feet industrial space is transformed for this walkthrough exhibit.
Early Christmas, easier access to Penticton and hanging with cats are just a few of the things we’re excited about this month.
Christmas In November
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is one of my favourite spots to stay no matter what the season, but its Christmas in November event (which kicks off November 7 and runs on select days through to the 16th) is one of the best reasons to head to Jasper this month. Celebrity chefs, great food and wine, all kinds of Christmas planning tips and decorating inspiration… for those who adore the holiday season, this event is a must-do. —Jill Foran, editor
I’m a huge fan of the Okanagan in general, but I especially get excited about Penticton. World-renowned wine, amazing restaurants, mild weather and beautiful landscapes—what’s not to love? And the best part is that all of this is just an hour away from Calgary, and realistic for a weekend getaway, thanks to WestJet Encore’s new daily service between Calgary and Penticton. —Sara Samson, assistant editor
The Underground City
Montreal’s Undergound City is basically my idea of heaven. As a committed bargain-hunter and thrift store junkie, I’m always searching for unique places to strike a deal when I travel. This “second city” is one of the largest underground complexes in the world with 1,700 boutiques and more than 200 restaurants, as well as museums, theatres and hotels. Who needs to stay above ground on vacation? Not me. —Alyssa Quirico, intern
Cat Town Café
Around the office I have earned the nickname “Cat Café Lady” because of my shameless enthusiasm for these Asia-originated themed cafés. Late last month, my coffee cup spilled over as America’s very first cat café opened in Oakland, California (Montreal’s Le Café Des Chats was the first of its kind for North America). Cat Town Café patrons can stop in for the purrfect cuppa joe and then visit with a clowder of local rescue cats who are up for adoption if you would like to take yours to go. —Diane Bolt, editorial assistant
I’m hoping to experience some of the new treatments unveiled this month at one of five Terminal Getaway Spas. This line of airport spas features high-quality, efficient treatments for travellers. Who wouldn’t want to fit in a quick mani-pedi or a brain-boosting cranial massage on the way through the airport? Bring on the “Bod Voyage” massage. —Pam Fieber, managing editor
